Alcoholic assaulted partner as she left him
A HORNCASTLE man assaulted his partner while she was trying to leave their home with their daughter in her arms, magistrates at Skegness heard.
Alistair Roger Clark, now living at Mareham on the Hill, admitted assaulting Emma Brown by beating her on May 3, 2012.
Prosecuting, Paul Wood said the couple had been in a relationship for three years and had a daughter together.
It was also said that Clark had been diagnosed as an alcoholic about 18 months ago.
On May 3, at their home in Southwells Lane, Horncastle, Clark was drunk and being abusive throughout the day.
Ms Brown decided to leave and put their daughter into a pushchair but Clark locked the door.
The court heard she picked up her daughter and tried to open the door but Clark put his fist against her cheek, pushed her and said: “You’re not going anywhere.”
Mr Wood said Ms Brown was not injured and managed to leave later.
In mitigation, Gary Farmer said Clark had anger and alcohol abuse issues.
He said Clark did not remember the day at all as he had taken medication for depression, at the same time as consuming alcohol.
Mr Farmer added Clark did not work because of his alcoholism and was embarrassed and ashamed of being in court.
Magistrates said they needed more information about him and adjourned the case until September 14 for a report from the Probation Service.
He was granted bail on condition he did not contact Ms Brown, except by text in relation to the welfare of their daughter.
