Police will have their own designated car parking place in Horncastle - and laughed off claims it will make it convenient for them to buy lunch.
A public parking bay in Church Lane will be reserved exclusively for police vehicles.
It follows talks between the force and officials from the County Council’s Highways department.
PSCO Nigel Wass, speaking at a meeting of the town council, said the move would make it easier for officers when they were called to the town centre.
He said: “We have a parking place in Louth which works well and it will be a good idea in Horncastle.
“It’s not a case of making it easier for us to pop into Couplands for a sandwich!”
Town mayor, Coun Fiona Martin, said she thought the designated parking place was a good idea.
