RAF Coningsby supports veterans

The RAF Coningsby Station Charities Committee has donated Â£200 to a Lincolnshire project called Veterans '“ the old, new and future.

Corporal Danielle St Hilaire is part of the human resources centre at the base and actively supports her step mother, Cheryl, when she volunteers with the Royal Voluntary Service.

The veterans project started in January and is aimed at ensuring older veterans avoid social isolation and loneliness through the support of volunteers, who themselves are former or currently serving military personnel.

The donation paid for an Easter egg for each of the members and will also fund birthday cards. “I know an Easter egg doesn’t sound that much, but the veterans were delighted when I turned up with them,” said Danielle.
