Anyone for tennis? - Two tennis courts are available to hire in the village.

They have recently been repaired and refurbished, just in time to have a game or consider taking up tennis now the excitement of Wimbledon has come to an end.

The courts can be booked with Jenny Ward at the village shop by calling 01507 343287.

Jenny will also collect payment on behalf of the parish council for casual games at £4 per hour for those aged 18 and over, or £2 per hour for under 18s.

Annual membership is also available, at £5 for under 18s, £10 for over 18s, £15 for a family with under 18s, or £20 for a family of adults. Contact the clerk on 01673 858451 or email [email protected].

All are welcome to use the courts, they are not just for residents of the village.

Parish council - The next meeting is in the village hall on Monday, July 25.

There is a 10-minute open forum from 7.20pm, when members of the public can ask questions or raise matters of concern in the parish.

There are two vacancies on the council and local electors are invited to apply to the clerk.

Walking success - Serving refreshments at this year’s Wolds Walking Festival launch day, which took place in the village, raised £555 for village hall funds.

There was an excellent team of helpers and the hall committee thanks everyone who helped and donated cakes.

Funds raised have been earmarked for some remedial work in the hall grounds.
