A new community hub could soon be opened at Coningsby’s old school in School Lane.
At the recent meeting of Coningsby Town Council Samantha Waller outlined plans for the project, which would see the building used for a variety of day and evening sports/exercise classes plus free classes for help with self-esteem building and depression clinics.
The aim is to bring the village residents and the RAF together and bids are being written for funding from the Armed Forces Community Covenant. So far the cost for the renovation is £150,000 and the lease has been secured for 12 years.
Parish councillors asked what was the possibility of housing the library in the building and Samantha replied that providing it was sustainable with its own funding it would be something they might consider.
Councillors were asked as individual business people to send letters of support should they wish for the project.
A vote was not taken and the Ccuncil will decide if they will support the project as a whole at the next meeting on March 27. Individual councillors gave words of encouragement for the proposed project.
