The people of East and West Barkwith turned out in force on Saturday afternoon to celebrate the 70th Anniversary of VE Day.

Torrington Lane was closed for the day to allow stalls, tables and bunting to be erected along with lots of Union Jack flags.

Many dressed in 1940s attire and prizes were given to best turned person on the day.

And 1940s entertainers Amanda Beaumont and Andrew Phillips were on hand to provide musical accompaniment to the day.

This well attended event was organised by local architect and builder Chris Wilson along with is many helpers from the village.

The local WI Ladies served sandwiches, cakes, trifles tea and coffee, a large hog roast was enjoyed by all who attended.
