Primary School pupils in the Horncastle area have teamed up with the local branch of the Royal British Legion to help raise funds for the Poppy Appeal.
The RBL is selling a 2016 calendar which features pictures designed by schoolchildren.
Several schools took part and the RBL is confident the colourful calenders will appeal to the public.
The calendars were the idea of John Blakey, a member of the Horncastle and District Branch of the RBL.
His proposal was immediately approved by the branch who contacted schools and invited pupils to paint pictures which would be considered for publication.
They were given a theme of ‘Children at Play’. Each painting was also to include the traditional symbol of the RBL, a red poppy.
Julian Millington, the Poppy Appeal Organiser for Horncastle and District, said they were ‘overwhelmed’ by the standard.
He added: “ We are delighted with the effort the children put in. They should be very proud.
“The standard was really high. We were overwhelmed and it was difficult deciding which paintings to include for publication.”
The calendars will be on sale at RBL stalls between now and Christmas.
Additionally, they are on view at Joffs Coffee House, in North Street and Touchwood in the Bull Ring. The two businesses have offered to take orders for the calendars.
Anyone wanting a calendar can also ring Mr Millington on 07985 372871.
The calendars are priced at £6.50 each.
