UPDATE: Latest of Horncastle roadworks and diversions

From Monday September 17 roadworks will be taking place at the junction of the A158 and A153 in Horncastle.

This work is expected to last for five weeks.

This is essential work to refurbish the traffic signals and carry out waterproofing work on the bridge.

Normal daytime working will be from Monday through to Saturday lunchtime and during this time the bridge across the River Waring will be closed to traffic and pedestrians.

Diversions:

A153 from the North

- HGV’s will be diverted at Louth onto the A16 to Partney then back onto the A158. Any that miss this diversion will come down the A153 to West Ashby and then be diverted along Sherman’s Wath and back onto the A158

- motorists coming down the A153 will enter the town centre as normal and then be diverted along the High Street, Bridge Street, West Street, Jubilee Way and then back onto the A153

A153 from the South

All vehicles wishing to continue through Horncastle on the A153 will be diverted via Jubilee Way, West Street, Bridge Street and the High Street and then rejoin the A153

Traffic travelling through the town on the A158

Traffic will flow as normal. However, there will be temporary 3-way lights in operation at the junction and it is expected that this will cause delays and extend journey times

Pedestrian access to the town
Access across the River Waring will be via the crossing at the corner of Church Lane/Wharf Road on Jubilee Way (A158)

Businesses in the town will remain open as usual throughout the whole period and there will be additional parking available on The Wong (to the south of the town on South Street/Boston Road)

Any queries or issues should be emailed direct to the county councillor, Coun Bill Aron at billandamanda@hotmail.com or via the town clerk at info@horncastletowncouncil.co.uk
