Lincolnshire Co-operative celebrated its new store in Tattershall with a grand opening and donations to a number of local organisations.
Sue Neal, the President of Lincolnshire Co-op, awarded cheques of £250 each to Lincolnshire Air Ambulance and the Royal British Legion, represented by District Councillor Stan Avison, £250 to Gartree School headteacher Geoff Cowley and £250 to Michael Phillips for the Village Hall.
The new store is situated in the building vacated by Haldanes supermarket in Tattershall’s Market Place.
Coun Avison said: “The store will benefit everyone in the town.
“It will really benefit senior citizens who live here who don’t have access to transport.
“Hopefully it will bring some life back into the village.
“It’s been 40 years since the Co-op was in Tattershall, and it’s nice to have a Lincolnshire company open a store here.”
Coun Avison was also delighted to have received two cheques on behalf of his charities of the year.
“They don’t have to do things like this and give money to these organisations. It goes to show how supportive they are of the local community.”
