Reports Boris Johnson could be the next MP of Louth and Horncastle are quashed

Rumours that the Mayor of London Boris Johnson could be the next MP of Louth and Horncastle have been dismissed this morning (Monday).
Reports have surfaced that 83-year-old MP Sir Peter Tapsell told Prime Minister David Cameron that he was ‘keeping the seat warm’ for current Mayor of London Boris Johnson.
Speculation has also been fulled by reports that Boris Johnson has been earmarked as a future Conservative Party leader, which would require him to become an MP.
But Maureen Ferrier, the aide to Sir Peter, the longest serving MP and Father of the House of Commons since 2010, said such reports were untrue and that the conversation between Sir Peter and David Cameron was a ‘joke’ that actually took place a year ago around a dinner table.
Sir Peter is also quoted as saying: “The problem is my seat is a long way from the TV studios. Boris would want to be closer to them.”
Boris Johnson, full name ‘Alexander Boris de Pfeffel Johnson’, has been Mayor of London since 2008.
Sir Peter will be 85 at the time of the 2015 General Election and questions have been raised as to whether or not he will continue in his role as MP, something which remains unclear.
Would you welcome Boris Johnson as the next MP of Louth and Horncastle?
