Museum ready for refurbishment
WOODHALL Spa’s Cottage Museum is closing on Sunday, September 30 to allow a programme of refurbishment.
The work is a key part of the development of the site being undertaken following a grant from the Heritage Lottery Fund.
Work on reconstructing the outbuildings has already begun, although the start was delayed while problems with the foundations were resolved.
The fully refurbished museum will re-open next Easter.
The closure will not affect the various events which the museum organises.
On September 22, Arnhem veterans will gather for the Arnhem Remembrance Event, which includes the laying of wreaths at the memorial in the museum grounds. There will also be a Service of Commemoration at St. Peter’s Church, followed by a veterans dinner in St Peter’s Hall.
On Saturday November 10, the museum is holding its annual Memorial Lecture at the English Golf Union Conference Centre, The Broadway, Woodhall Spa.
This year, the lecture will be given by Ian Whittle, son of Sir Frank Whittle, and is entitled The Genesis of the Jet.
The lecture starts at 2.30pm and tickets costing £8.50, are available from The Copy Shop, Woodhall Spa and Horncastle, Richard Sivill, 4 High Street, Tattershall.
