Local butchers to benefit

In the wake of the supermarket horsemeat scandal, many local butchers are already seeing an increase in trade.
R.S. Wisby Butchers in Horncastle’s High Street told the News that in the first week after news of the scandal that sales of burgers increased.
Paul Wilkinson, who has worked at the store for 20 years, said: “This news really makes you think - it has been going on for a long time.
“Now they have finally been caught.
“We do quite well with our burger sales anyway, but they have gone up since we heard the news.”
Paul encouraged the public to use local butchers because they know that they are getting a good product.
He continued: “All our meat is slaughtered at Lincoln and we use local suppliers who we can trust.
“This is definitely good for trade, I’m sure other butchers are the same - it’s about time we got something back.
“We are offering the best service we can with the best products that we can provide to the public. “
