Russell and Sadie Hirst added another accolade to their already bustling trophy cabinet as they picked up a prize at the British Pie Awards.
The owners of RJ Hirst Family Butchers picked up the Bronze award in the Pasty Class for their Beef Pasty.
Their creation was one of 825 pies judged in 19 categories by 108 food experts and celebrity chefs.
Sadie told the Horncastle News: “We are thrilled to have won an award in this prestigious national competition.
“It feels fantastic to have been recognised.
“We work considerably hard to make sure the products are as good as they can be.
“The produce that we put forward for competitions is exactly the same as we sell in our shop.”
Sadie revealed that they are hard at work in creating new products for the forthcoming year, using authentic cookery books from the 1940s to create new items which will be on sale during Woodhall Spa’s 1940s weekend.
The next big competition for the butchers is the Poacher Awards which will be held at Lincolnshire Showground later this year.
