Planners at East Lindsey District Council have given the go ahead for 600 solar panels to be erected on part of the site of the Battle of Winceby.
There were widespread objections to plans for the 2.4 metre high panels on land adjoining High Barn Farm.
Apart from the historic importance of the site, there were concerns the panels could be seen from the nearby Snipe Dales Country Park.
Planners, though, have given their backing - subject to a number of conditions.
They include the fact no work can begin until an archaeological investigation has been carried out.
Only black-coloured panels can be installed and they must be ‘coated’ to reduce the effects of glare and reflectivity.
The objectors included several local residents.
