Jo Potter, tenant of The King’s Head at Horncastle, has proved that managing a great pub runs in the family after receiving the Batemans’ Cellar Management Award.
The accolade has been won twice before by her mother Sue Skinner, the previous landlord at the popular town centre pub.
Jo received the award for the superb condition in which beer is stored and maintained.
The achievement is even more impressive as Jo handles all the cellar management without any assistance, as is usually the case for such a physically strenuous task.
As recognition of her mother’s help and guidance, Jo decided to share the award with her.
Jo said: “I’m thrilled to have reclaimed the crown for The King’s Head, particularly as my mother has always explained to me that the cellar is the most important part of any pub. When I was the landlord of The Bay Horse, another Batemans pub in Hull, I lost out on the award to my mum so we’re very keen to keep it in the family.”
Stuart Bateman, Managing Director of Batemans, said: “We’re incredibly proud of Jo and the effort she puts in.”
