Any housing application will be closely examined
RESIDENTS concerned about a possible new housing development in Horncastle have been assured any plans will be “rigorously examined.”
The News revealed last week that Tesco is looking to sell a three-acre site off Lincoln Road after failing to secure permission for a major new supermarket last year.
People living close to the area have raised fears about several possible problems including:
l An increase in traffic
l Site access
l Potential flooding.
Bill Aron, a member of Horncastle Town Council and Lincolnshire County Council, said he could understand the concerns.
He said: “People were obviously relieved when the supermarket application was turned down after a pretty intensivecampaign.
“I can understand why they are worried about a possible housing development on the same site.
“There are various issues but as ever, any application will be rigorously examined before a decision is made.
“I have concerns myself over possible flooding which, of course, is a major issue in the town.
