The Chair of Bardney Group Parish Council has appealed for people to join their ‘Twin Town’ organisation.

Councillor Charles Shaw will be part of a Bardney group which will visit their twin town - La Bazoge in France later this month.

The visit is from May 28 until June 2 and will take in a number of specially organised events in La Bazoge.

Spaces on the coach are still available and the cost is £100 per person.

Coun Shaw said: “The Twin Town organisation is a great way to build links.

“We are under-represented in terms of under 30s females and new residents.

“This is a great opportunity to get engaged.

“You do not have to go alone – you and your partner can go subject to places on the coach.”

Coun Shaw said it would be helpful if people who go on the trip agree to host a French family on a planned return visit, either later this year or later next year.

He added: “This is not absolutely essential – our priority is to get a good mix of representation from the Bardney Group area.”

Anyone who wants to take part - and lives in the Apley, Bardney, Stainfield or Southrey areas - should contact the council offices on 01526 397406 or you ring Coun Shaw direct on 07818 434346

Coun Shaw paid tribute to the work of past councillors with regard to the Twin Town organisation.

He said that it had been difficult to finalise all the arrangements for the trip to France because a key person in the organisation has been suffering from health problems.
