The residents of Tetford are giving a big thumbs up to Western Power.
The village is currently having the power supply changed as part of the Overhead to Underground scheme. It is the third local village to have this done. Fulletby and Belchford have already had the work successfully completed.
The scheme will lead to the eventual removal of a lot of the telegraph poles and cables around the village, just leaving those necessary for carrying the BT lines.
Since the start of the work, in July, many stories are emerging of good deeds being done by the workers from Morrison Utility Services.
As well as being polite and courteous, the residents of Tetford have praised them for helping carry shopping into houses, pulling out tree stumps and generally assisting, especially the elderly.
One morning recently, they were informed there was to be a funeral service that day at the church. As a result they stopped working in that part of the village and even clubbed together and bought a wreath.
Many residents are looking forward to seeing so many cables being removed, which will improve the look of the village, and to receiving an improved power supply. They are also pleased to see that the work is well on schedule.
The team from Western Power and Morrison’s are Jason, George, Dale, Luke, Ken, Shane, Lee and Colin.
Dale and Luke, shown in the photograph, are now familiar faces around the village. They are making a point of letting residents know that while they are in the village, if they are able to help they will. They also want to say a huge thank you to the residents for bearing with them, for making them feel so welcome, and for all the cups of tea and homemade cakes and quiche.
