Town centre ready to explode with carnival atmosphere

10am, Wednesday - EVEN more entertainment has been added to the schedule for Horncastle Summer Craft Market on Sunday where the town centre will explode with a carnival atmosphere.

Thousands of people are expected to gather for what is without doubt the biggest event in the town's social calendar.


Scores of stalls will be lining the town centre with businesses and charities all getting involved to make a creative contribution to the annual extravaganza.


A wide range of hand made Lincolnshire crafts will be on offer along with Tastes of Lincolnshire food producers providing some tasty culinary delights.


Musical entertainment will be provided by a number of bands including the CS Big Band, known as one of the best swing bands around, who will be performing music from the 1940s through to today.


Banovallum Brass will be there along will father and son duo, Legacy, Horncastle Community Primary School Choir, and talented performers Joe Ritjakis, Emily Rodwell and Tommy Peckham aka Horncastle's Elvis.


The Black Bull Border Morris Dancers will be appearing along with circus entertainers, traditional sideshows and Punch and Judy.


More than 1,000 classic cars will be driving into the town throughout the afternoon and will be on display along North Street and Bull Ring.


There will be fair rides and, new this year, is Evergreen's miniature railway calling at 'St Mary's Station'.


Children can enjoy treasure hunts around the town's shops with the chance to win a £10 toys voucher.


A charity tea and coffee day will be held at Allsorts and there will be a raffle with all the proceeds going towards the NSPCC and the Cats Protection League.


Refreshments will be served all day and admission is free.

* Road Closures and parking restrictions:
* The High Street, Market Place and Bridge Street will be shut from 7am until 5.30pm.
* Bull Ring and North Street, to the junction of Conging Street, will close from 8.30am until 3.30pm.
* Diversions will be in place along Stanhope Road.
* Motorists are advised that parking in the bays on North Street and outside the Post Office will be suspended for this period as well.
