3pm, Thursday - RECIPES by people at RAF Coningsby will appear alongside those of top chefs and stars including Ewan McGregor, Jonny Wilkinson, and Sir David Jason.

They have all contributed to a new book with the aim of raising thousands for the charity Help for Heroes.

Sqn Ldr Al Pinner, officer commanding Battle of Britain Memorial Flight at RAF Coningsby, has his recipe for Spitfire Cassoulet, a stew of beans and mixed meats, included.

He said: "This is a wonderful project, great food for a fantastic cause."

All those who make a contribution also have to nominate their own hero and Sqn Ldr Pinner chose fighter ace Sir Douglas Bader.

SAC Adam Dover, a chef from Lincoln, had his recipe for Fillet of Beef on a toasted Brioche accepted and chose his wife Murielle as his hero.

Corporal Richie Dunse, an air traffic controller at Coningsby, was involved at the start of the book and chose a recipe of salmon, potato and pasta broth and selected Sir Steve Redgrave as his hero.

Other well-known RAF contributors include Flt Lt Michelle Goodman, the first female recipient of the Distinguished Flying Cross.

Food for Heroes - The Help for Heroes Cook Book is available now and costs £14.99.
