Friday - 1pm FIREFIGHTERS rescued a pet gerbil from a fire at a house in Baumber this morning.
Fire crews from Horncastle, Woodhall Spa, Wragby and Louth were called to tackle the blaze at 8.50am.

It was quickly brought under control and confined to a garage connected to a detached house off Lincoln Road.

Traffic had to be diverted from the A158 but the road was reopened at midday.

Extensive damage was caused to the garage and the cause of the blaze is not thought to be suspicious

The gerbil was reported to be fine after its ordeal.
