PLANS for a new larger Tesco store in Horncastle will be available for public viewing at a consultation event this week.
Highways, planning and landscape consultants will be on hand to answer people's questions at the Admiral Rodney hotel in North Street from 1pm-7pm on Friday and 10.30am-2pm on Saturday.

Tesco corporate affairs manager Nick Gellatly said the propos
ed store would be approximately twice the size of the current one sited in Watermill Road.

It would be located in the Reindeer Close industrial estate off West Street near Queen Elizabeth's Grammar School.

Mr Gellatly said: "We're proposing a sympathetic design in a good location for pedestrians and cars, and we hope to see further custom coming into Horncastle as a result of the improved service."

He said, unlike the current car park, the proposed store parking would be free and available for customers to use when visiting other town centre shops.

Around 100 new jobs, a mixture of full and part time would also be created.

When the News first reported on these plans last summer, there were mixed reviews from local businesses.

Manager of R.S. Wisby butchers in High Street was positive at the possibility of more people coming to the town.

Robert Myers from the Myers Bakery in Bull Ring was concerned about the impact this new store could have on local businesses like theirs.
