12pm, Saturday - A CALL for a better deal for the area's blind residents came at a full meeting of East Lindsey District Council.
Coun Sandra Harrison reminded colleagues that blind people often face extra costs such as using taxis or private hire vehicles.

She said that they were worthy of additional mobility benefit to save them from being excluded from the sorts of activities that sighted people take for granted.

Following her presentation, it was agreed that ELDC chief executive Nigel Howells and council leader Coun Doreen Stephenson should write to the Secretary for Work and Pensions, James Purnell MP, inviting him to address these concerns.
