A CONTROVERSIAL application for a mobile phone mast in Hagworthingham has been recommended for refusal by East Lindsey District Council (ELDC) planners.
The application for a 22.5m 02 phone mast at Mount Pleasant Farm was met with fierce opposition from local people who joined forces to create Hagworthingham Action Group (HAG) in opposition to the mast.
Their main objections were due to the health risks associated with these types of mast, including cancer.
The site is also in an area of outstanding natural beauty (AONB), which government guidelines state should be avoided is possible, and is near to residential properties.
HAG member Alison Thompson, who lives just 75ft (22m) from the site of the proposed mast, explained the mast would also overshadow Lord Tennyson's birth place at Somersby.
Members insist they are not against a mast, they just ask that other sites be investigated which are 'more sensitive to the beauty, history and residents of the village'.
A date for the proposal to be discussed by ELDC under delegated powers is yet to be set.
* Controversial plans for three poultry units at Old Bolingbroke have been recommended for conditional approval.
The application by local firm Poulet Anglais in respect of land at Back Lane will be considered by councillors at Manby today (Thursday).
Also recommended for conditional approval today are plans by Chartdale Homes Ltd for more than 100 homes on the former McKechnie Plastic Components site in Bardney Road, Wragby.
