PILOTS and aircraft from RAF Coningsby will say happy birthday to the Queen today, Saturday, with a fly past over Buckingham Palace.
Among them are aircraft from the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight including the Lancaster, Spitfire and a Hurricane, piloted by station commander Group Captain Stuart Atha.

Packed away on board the Lancaster will be a special cargo - two replica models of the Hurricane JX-E Night Reaper taking part in the fly past.

Both models are part of a limited edition of only 1,000 made by Corgi and will be auctioned off in aid of Help for Heroes – a charity that helps soldiers injured in both Iraq and Afghanistan.

Gp Capt Atha told the News the flypast will have special meaning because this year marks the 90th anniversary of the RAF and the aircraft in the tribute represent 70 years of RAF history.

A total of 55 aircraft are due to take part including nine Eurofighter Typhoons from RAF Coningsby.
