WOODHALL Spa Parish Council had no objection in principle to a plan to build a new 20 bedroom accommodation building at the Petwood Hotel in Stixwould Road.
But there were concerns about the visual impact of the hotel’s overflow car park.

The site for the new building is to the left of the main driveway to the north west of the main hotel.

The new building’s design statement says it will maintain the style and include details of the existing buildings but it will ‘stand on its own merits as a balanced, attractive and interesting design.’

According to the planning documents, the main building of the Petwood was completed in 1905 and was built as a private residence for Baroness Von Eckhardstein who often stayed at the Victoria Hotel nearby.

It was built on the Baroness's ‘pet wood’ at the back of the Victoria Hotel and became a hotel proper in 1933.

The hotel has 53 bedrooms, two large function suites and a number of smaller rooms for private parties and meetings.
