Members attending the March meeting of the Woodhall Spa and District branch of The Royal British Legion were treated to an excursion travelling the waterways, cycle route and footpaths from Boston to Lincoln, following the course of the River Witham and the old railway line.

Derek Warner’s illustrated talk was an enjoyable and picturesque experience, punctuated by the pleasant sound of birdsong and various animals along the route.

The evening had opened with a presentation by branch president David Mullinger and chairman Phill Avery to standard bearers Stuart Holmes and Steve Hall, who received their standard bearers ties.

Members agreed to spend up to £275 of branch funds to buy a new sheath for the standard, protective covers and new gauntlets.

The next meeting will be in the Conservative Club on Tuesday, April 12, at 7.30pm, when Mike Chatterton will talk about A Tale of Two Lancs.

New members are always welcome. To find out more, contact the membership secretary, Bridget Wilcox, on 01526 353919.
