Can you remember what happened in September 1974? President of the Rotary Club of Horncastle, Sylvia Ravenhall recalled some of the landmark events of that year during the club’s 40th charter anniversary dinner held recently at the Admiral Rodney Hotel.
Top table guests included District Governor Wendy Watson representing Rotary District 1270, accompanied by her husband Philip; Past president of Horncastle Lions, Pete Houldershaw and President elect of Horncastle Probus Club, Neil Carter.
Saltfleetby farmer Martin Chapman entertained members, visiting Rotarians from neighbouring clubs and guests to an amusing talk entitled ‘Where do local strawberries come from at Christmas.’
A sweepstake was also held into the result of the Scottish referendum.
