The hillsides around Nettleton and Claxby are some of the most beautiful in the Lincolnshire Wolds, yet less than 100 years ago, they were scarred by the mines supplying Scunthorpe’s mammoth demands for the iron and steel industry.

Find out what happened below the feet of those well trodden fields and hills at Caistor Arts and Heritage Centre where an exhibition is being held from March 1 to March 31 to show what life was like underground.
