What is on offer at Jubilee Park

Children in Woodhall Spa will soon be able to benefit from a bumper £50,000 re-vamp of the play area in the village’s Jubilee Park.

Work on the project should be completed by the end of next month and officials are confident the new-look facility will be the best in the area.

Park manager Joe Stanhope said: “The park is already really well used and with the improvements that are planned, I’m sure it will attract a lot more visitors.

“The equipment will meet the needs of a much wider age group and should be a major boost to what the park can offer.”

The list of attractions will now include a state-of-the-art zip wire, two climbing frames, new swings and a roundabout featuring disabled access.

Funding has come from WREN (£35,000), Lincolnshire County Council (£15,000) and the Friends of Jubilee Park (FoJP), who have donated £1,000.

The re-vamp is the culmination of hard work which started 12 months ago when a proposal to upgrade facilities were first made to Woodhall Spa Parish Council.

After receiving backing from the council, organisers undertook a survey to check if their plans had widespread support from the public.

Questionnaires were distributed through schools and youth groups in Woodhall Spa and surrounding villages.

Almost 200 questionnaires were returned - and there was 100 per cent support for the scheme.

Several questionnaires also contained suggestions on exactly what equipment should be included.

Grant applications were then submitted to WREN - an organisation which funds community and environmental projects - and the county council.

A plan for the upgrade was drawn up and four companies were approached to tender for the work.

After more discussions - which featured input from
the FoJP’s Junior Committee - the contract was handed to Wicksteed Playscapes who plan to start work after Bonfire Night.
