That 40s radio spirit recreated on Spa stage

Recreating the unique spirit of 1940’s radio plays, The Fitzrovia Radio Hour’s brand new show will visit Coronation Hall, Woodhall Spa on Thursday October 18.

Brilliantly evoking a dinner-jacketed age of casual imperialism and stiff upper lips, the show tours from three critically acclaimed London residencies and two sell-out years at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival.

Performed with cut-glass theatricality blending homage and satire, Fitzrovia mixed the chauvinist attitudes of 1940’s Britain with sharp humour to produce a heady comic cocktail.

Throughout the show, sound effects are created live: a Bakelite hairdryer imitates a heating torch, a desk fan becomes an aeroplane and multiple types of cabbage help to stage a fight scene.

The show at Coronation Hall on October 18 starts at 7.30pm and tickets, £8 or £6 for  concessions, can be purchased from Book Fayre on 01526 354501.
