Tap the Table present Ben Elton comedy
Tap the Table in rehearsal. Left to right: Louise Charles Clarke, Wayne Ingram, Emma Leah Golding, Thomas Liversidge.
For one night only, Tap the Table Theatre Company will be proudly presenting ‘Gasping’ at Horncastle’s Lion Theatre this Saturday.
The Northampton-based production company will be presenting Ben Elton’s critically acclaimed comedy ‘Gasping.
The show at the Lion Theatre is part of a tour which is travelling round Northampton, Birmingham and London.
Lockheart Industries are searching for that new innovative product to take the world by storm.
An enthusiastic, young upstart has the ingenious idea of designer air, ‘Perrier for the lungs’.
This comes in the form of the ‘Suck and Blow Machine’ as they rake in the profits
Things begin extremely well; the machines are popular and sales exceed all projections.
However, greed forces up the price of air until the oxygen industry becomes privatised.
It turns into a case of if you are unable to pay the price, you are unable to breathe.
‘Gasping’ is Ben Elton’s first play and it brings into question the morality of Big Business.
This satire shows the selfish and ruthless side of corporate business.
Laden with social and political humour, this witty and sarcastic piece will have the audience laughing throughout, but hopefully not too short on breath!
Tickets are available from Horncastle Music Shop, 01507 526566, and are priced at £8 or £7.
The performance will start at 7.30pm.
