Night set to go with a bang

Fireworks Display

Fireworks Display

Fireworks and the glow of a roaring bonfire will once again light up the night sky on Thimbleby Hill next week.

In spite of having been burned to ash as part of the Diamond Jubilee night celebrations in June, Horncastle Lions’ bonfire has reappeared as large as ever in the field on Thimbleby Hill.

The Annual Lions Community Bonfire and Firework Display will take place on Monday, November 5.

Gates will open at 6pm with the fire being lit at 6.30pm and fireworks at 7pm.

‘Bonfire food’ in the form of hot dogs or burgers and hot drinks will be available.

The event is a major fundraiser for the Lions. All the money raised will go to Lions charities, much of it will very quickly returned to the Horncastle community supporting local projects.

Lions president Andrew Tuxworth said “Whilst we hope to raise money, we also hope that we are serving the community especially young families by offering an exciting, safe bonfire experience for less than the price of a box of fireworks.”

The display costs £3 per adult, £2 per child of school age (five-16 years old) and £10 per family.

Meanwhile , Jubilee Park holds it Fireworks Extravaganza on Saturday, November 3.

The event starts at 6pm and this year’s display is hosted by the Friends of Jubilee Park, Jubilee Park and Petwood Caravan Park.

Tickets for adults cost £4, children £2 and family (2+2) £10.

A hogroast, barbecue, bar, sparklers and children’s toys will all be on offer.

Plus, if you stay on the campsite you can get into the display for free.
