Horncastle’s Banovallum Brass Band enjoyed their trip to the seaside as they performed in the annual Butlins Mineworkers Brass Band Festival Competition.

Out of 17 groups taking part in the competition in Skegness, the Horncastle favourites finished fifth. Rachel Bourn said: “We are so pleased with the result, it was brilliant.

“It’s quite a challenging competition, and we had five members under the age of 16. But we have all worked really hard and we got a good result.”

“We’re already looking forward to next year’s competition.
