THE Rotary Club of Woodhall Spa recently hosted a group study exchange team from Brazil.

The object of the
exchange is for members to study their vocation in the host country while at the same time learning about its culture and heritage.

The team from
Brazil consisted of Rotarian team leader Antonio Souza and team members Lorenza Xavier, Juliana Maglhaes, Vanda Vilela and Fernando Teixeira.

While in Woodhall, the team had a varied programme arranged for them.

On the first day they had lunch at the Tea House in the Woods
followed by a visit to
the Cottage Museum
and a tour of the village.

The morning of the second day was a ‘vocational visit’.

The three members of the group working
in education visited Queen Elizabeth’s
Grammar School,
Horncastle while the logistics officer had discussions with a Rotarian experienced in the same field.

A visit to the Aviation Heritage Centre in
East Kirkby followed to tour the museum
and watch the Lancaster taxi.

The final day saw the team in Boston, climbing the Stump Tower before touring the Guildhall and Fydell House.

A barbecue rounded
off the day with the visitors.

Woodhall’s Rotarians said they had an enjoyable and rewarding time with the team who were marvellous ambassadors for their country.

Rotarian Jim Cork added: “The programme has been running for nearly 40 years.

“It’s funded by the Rotary Foundation, and it’s a great opportunity to go to other countries and see how vocations work over there.

“There’s an interview process after an
application has been made and it’s open to the public.

“In May we took a group to Tennessee, USA and we’ll be going to Brazil next year.

“It’s aimed for 25-40 year olds for them to look at their vocations in other countries.

“We’ve had groups from all over the
world visit: America, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, even Central Africa.”
