Alchemy has the right equation for some excellent entertainment

THE fourth annual Alchemy Festival makes its return to Coningsby this weekend.

With more than 140 different acts due to play on seven stages, organiser Toby Gordon is pleased to see his team’s hard work coming together.

“Preparation has been going on all year, but we’re really hands on now.

“It’s nice to see it’s coming together.”

The festival had its first run through in 2009, and Toby admitted that it was as a result of other, bigger festivals letting him down.

“I was fed up with national festivals and the price you pay to go to them.

“Even the food and drink is expensive.”

Alchemy Festival allows visitors to bring along their own alcohol and food, but also have food stalls on site, as well as two bars.

“We’re offering high street prices on amenities.

“It’s not until people actually visit us that they realise how good the value is.

“Especially when we have so many bands playing over the weekend.”

As well as the music, Alchemy Festival has a ‘Healing Area’ and a number of different trade stands across the weekend.

“Healing Areas are kind of the done thing at festivals now.

“There will be things like massages and Reiki healing.

“It’s something a bit different.

“There will also be plenty of trade stands at the festival, including a chainsaw carver.”

Toby stressed that there is a lot of work put in to make sure the festival is run as a green as possible.

The organisers are aiming to recycle 80 per cent of any waste left on the site at the end of the weekend.

“A week after the festival you wouldn’t be able to tell that there had ever been one there.

“I’ve learned a lot over the years I’ve done this.

“I should have started smaller in the beginning, but it’s been great.”
