The Horncastle and District Lions Club held their 2014 annual charter dinner at the Admiral Rodney Hotel.
Lions from all over the county joined local members celebrating their club’s 37th birthday in the company of District Governor Alan Hall.
Welcoming Alan and his wife Jane, the President of Horncastle Lions Alan Toon said they had enjoyed a very successful year with a welcome increase in membership and a number of successful fundraising events.
Notable donations included £3,000 given to the Butterfly Hospice at Boston.
Replying, the District Governor conveyed greetings from the International President Joe Preston and congratulated the Horncastle Lions on their achievements.
The District Governor joined the assembled Lions in praising the life and work of the Lions’ secretary Stefan Erentraut who died recently.
The Lions were thanked for their hospitality on behalf of the visitors and guests by Rotary President Sylvia Ravenhall.
The evening also included the presentation of 30 year and 35 year awards to well-known Horncastle Lions’ stalwarts Bob Wayne and Alan Toon.
