Horncastle celebrate victory against Louth

Horncastle Chess Club secured their first win of the season with a hard fought victory over local rivals Louth.

The opening four games had resulted in two wins and two defeats for Horncastle so the players were delighted with the success against Louth.

Andrew Watson, on board three, succumbed to the attacking style of Charles Ayton around the same time William Orr agreed a draw, on board two ,with John Grasham.

Mark Newstead, on four, attacked strongly to recover a win against Peter Damms from a precarious position while Mike Comben, on 1, ground out an endgame to defeat Neil Milson.

The match result saw Horncastle 2.5 to 1.5.

The club meet every Thursday, 7.30pm at The Bull Hotel. New members welcome,
