EDITOR - I'm sure there will be many responses to the article in the paper about Horncastle Town Hall.
I cannot see what is to be gained for the town by knocking down the present building.
The Town Plan event held in the hall ought to demonstrate the need for this sort of venue.
The Farmers Ball organisers, the Blood Transfusion Service, Bell's sa
les, and many other users would find it very difficult to replace.
I believe we have been thrown a red herring in the form of the Mablethorpe pictures (which I believe is not their equivalent of our hall but just the council offices and library) and the survey showing 'everyone' wanting a bowling alley, cinema and place for the young to meet.
From where I sit it looks as though the hall will be demolished after January.
In their words they will 'make it safe', then demolish it and no guarantee can be given about ANY replacement.
We are not to expect a leisure centre of any sort like Louth's - there goes another bit of bait they dangled before us.
It must cost a fortune to demolish a building that size.
To bring it up to date - surely not so much?
I think the ELDC agenda is clear. They're taking us for mugs.
