14/05/08 - Allow me to clarify my recent email...
EDITOR - My recent email was totally innocent and purely directed at the wind turbine idea at ELDC, which is pretty well isolated.
I had no idea that there were any wind turbines planned for Baumber or that there was any contention about their proximity to houses and am totally against their being sited there.
Of course they must be sited sensitively and those mainly affected should have the maximum power of veto over badly positioned turbines.
My statement that "The residents forget they are there" was based upon a news item concerning a wind farm established on a Scottish island, BUT THE WINDFARM WAS SITED WELL AWAY FROM THE HOUSES, in fact I think it was about three miles away.
When I referred to wind turbines being "unintrusive" and "imposing" I was referring to those sited out to sea, or on isolated moors, not to those which have been erected without reference or sensitivity to the effect on the local populace.
