EDITOR - In reply to Sam Tunmore's letter, the fact that in his opinion wind turbines look nice is no reason to have them.

My objections have been expounded before but I repeat.
Proponents always state their rated output, but in reality you would be lucky to get 20-25 per cent of this.
Even the National Geographic found them wanting and nuclear power's overall CO2 footprint lower.

Their payback is minimal to negative, ie. they would not payback in power produced their cost in manpower and resources to build within their short lifetime. Their cost means that for the proposed offshore windfarm we could build 10 multi gigawatt stations that will produce power 24/7.

Finally, ask yourself why the former world leaders in wind technology, Denmark, now prefer to buy cheaper nuclear electricity from EDF in France than install more turbines?
These are all good economic arguments against.
