EDITOR - Coun Cooper's suggestion that a wind turbine be erected at ELDC headquarters is an excellent one.
It would provide first-hand information as to the amount of energy available from the device and thus be an invaluable aid to the council's deliberations when considering wind-farm planning applications.

However, it is fair to point out that the councillor's hopes of generating a surplus to be fed into the national grid are, to put it as gently as possible, wildly optimistic.

I know nothing of the annual energy bill which the ELDC incurs, but I would wager a year's council tax that at best a turbine's output would offset the cost of perhaps a week's lighting, to say nothing of heating, computer use etc.
