EDITOR - I recently attended a wind farm meeting organised by the Horncastle NFU.
The presentation was by Novera Energy and stated that:-
* 75% of people are in favour of wind farms
* They do not affect property values
* They emit just 20 decibels of noise
* Cost of generation is less than coal and gas fired power stations
* They bring jobs to the area and quite a proportion of the equipment is made in this country.
If you were to attend an anti-wind farm meeting the argument on all these points are completely the opposite.
We need an honest and unbiased point of view but where do we find it?
From the government? I don't think so.
From a consultant? This depends on whose pocket they are lining?
If Novera Energy figures are correct and they emphasise that they are responsible in saving the planet, then site the wind turbines where the electric is used - on the outskirts of cities where all 75 per cent of people are in favour, they don't mind the noise, devaluation and the cheaper source of electricity and they employ labour!
I suggest that all their claims are mistruths and placing all the problems with the minority in the countryside. If wind energy is needed surely the best place is off shore.
