STAGING a national motorcycle rally in Woodhall Spa at the weekend proved such a hit that the event will be back in the area again in 2010.
Members of Missing Lincs, the local branch of the Triumph Owners Motorcycle Club, were delighted to welcome scores of bikes and riders to the four-day rally, held at Bainland Park.

"There were people from all over the UK, including the Isle of Wight and the Isle of Man, and the event was absolutely superb," said Alan Caine, the Missing Lincs press officer.

"It was a nationally organised event but Missing Lincs organised the local aspects of it. One of our important targets was to show people from other areas how good Lincolnshire is and what it has to offer.

"They were so impressed that many people said they would come back again and bring their families."

Apart from the parade of machines from various eras of Triumph motorcycle history, other highlights included live music events, a bike run over the Wolds, a civic reception at Gainsborough Old Hall and two flypasts by the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight.

Next year the national rally will celebrate 50 years of the Triumph Bonneville with an anniversary event at Gaydon, Warwickshire, but in two years' time it will be brought back to Lincolnshire.
