SCARECROWS designed to attract the crowds rather than to scare away the birds will be taking over Tetford this weekend.
The annual Scarecrow Festival, running from Saturday through to Monday, is a great feature in the village and provides the perfect excuse for everybody to get together and have fun with their straw friends.

Under the theme, 'Out of this World', the village will literally be taken over by scarecrows.
While visitors can admire the scarecrows, the scarecrows along with the visitors can be spectators to a variety of entertainment over the three days.

Besides the usual array of bric-a-brac stalls, there will be musical entertainment and dancing.
Delicious food will be laid on at Tetford Village Hall and there will also be face painting, a display of classic cars, stalls and children's activities in the church.

Villagers have been busy practicing their maypole dancing ready to impress the crowds on the opening day of the festival, from 12pm to 1pm.

The talented Horncastle based Banovallum Brass Band will be performing at 2pm on Sunday and the festival finale will see morris dancers from 11am to 3pm and from 2pm ceilidh music from local favourites, the Riverhead Ranters.

After last year's success, festival organisers are hoping for a good turn out this year to raise money for village good causes.

* Send in your photos of this fantastic festival - email them to sean.topham@jpress.co.uk and tell us about your favourite scarecrows.
