THOUSANDS of people filled the streets of Horncastle town centre on Sunday for a1960s themed Midsummer Craft Market.
More than 100 stalls and attractions together with a full day's programme of live entertainment including top tribute band The Upbeat Beatles set the scene.
Early morning high winds forced most of the attractions and stalls along North Street and the Bull Ring to relocate.
Similar problems resulted in craft stalls moving from a marquee in the courtyard of the Sir Joseph Banks Centre to indoors.
But by the time most visitors arrived, the winds had subsided and the sun shone and with so much going on, many stayed all day.
A carnival atmosphere descended on the town and shops were decorated with colourful bunting created by members of the older community and flowers coloured in by pupils from Horncastle Community Primary School.
A number of shop windows featured nostalgic displays from the 1960's and many entered into the spirit of the day by dressing in period costume.
Members of Horncastle Theatre Company added colour and character to the day in their sixties' gear as they welcomed visitors to the town.
Finalist on the smash hit BBC1 tribute show 'The Only and Only' Tara Stafford Allen and her singing partner, Angie Fisher were very popular along with Horncastle's award-winning Banovallum Brass.
The stunning Kakushigei Taiko Drummers, popular local band Unshaven and the Starlite Twirlers all added to the ambience of the day.
'That Sixties Show' starring local dancers and performers in the Red Lion Theatre was so popular there were three sell-out performances.
Poacher Morris and Horncastle based Blackbull Border Morris Men entertained throughout the day and 'the people's favourite' Tommy Peckham proved as popular as ever with his Elvis show.
The event was organised by Horncastle Now, which aims to promote the town and bring the community together.
Chairman Graham Turner said: "We have been inundated with people who have appreciated what a great day it was with many saying how professional the event was and how friendly Horncastle is and what the town has to offer."
*A full colour supplement featuring photographs from the day will be available next week from Perkins Newsagents and Horncastle Music Shop.
Proceeds will go towards Horncastle Now's future projects which include children's holiday workshops and Horncastle Christmas Market.
