Memorial flight launch fundraiser

THE BATTLE of Britain Memorial Flight is to launch a week-long fundraiser in honour of lost aircrew.
The charity will hold a series of events in support of the Bomber Command Memorial Appeal, which aims to raise £2 million for a monument in remembrance of the 55,573 Bomber Command personnel who lost their lives in the Second World War.


The events run from June 29 to July 3 and include:


Art Exhibition – the BBMF will host the first-ever showing of David Shepherd's collection of paintings at RAF Coningsby, from June 29 – July 3. Tickets cost £10 (£8 for OAPs and children under 16). Tickets can only be purchased in advanced.


National raffle – David Shepherd has donated an exclusive oil painting of Elephants in front of Mount Kilimanjaro for raffle. Tickets will be on sale for £10 each, with the winning ticket drawn September 27.


Sale of Limited Edition Prints – Prints available of David Shepherd's F For Freddie – Did Not Return painting, available during the exhibition.


Banquet – Held at the Petwood Hotel, Woodhall Spa, on July 3, guests will join Officer Commanding BBMF, Sqn Ldr Al Pinner, VIP guests and Bomber Command Veterans. A champagne reception, a flypast by the Lancaster, and a swing band, are also included and the guest speaker will be David Shepherd. Tickets £100.
