A SPONSORED charity walk in aid of Help for Heroes and an orthopaedic research charity will take place in Horncastle on Sunday, January 24.
As reported in the News in December, injured athlete Lindi Marson organised this walk after undergoing pioneering knee surgery at Lincoln Hospital.

Consultant orthopaedic surgeon Mr Mohammad Maqsood repaired Lindi's knee using special plugs.

In
return, she wanted to raise some money for his charity Mastor-Lincs (Margaret Ann Smith Trauma snd Orthopaedic Research.

Anybody who wishes to participate in the walk with Lindi can meet her outside the gates of Queen Elizabeth's Grammar School in West Street at 11am.

The mile-long walk will take in some of Horncastle's points of interest before finishing at Old Nicks Tavern on North Street, and local man Peter Tasker will be the guide.

Lindi will be braving the walk on her crutches.

She was injured in a road traffic accident in January 2009 and, after not being able to walk without pain for months, was referred to Mr Maqsood and subsequently had the operation which, it is hoped, will eventually allow her to walk pain-free.

Before her injury, Lindi was an England international runner and achieved nurmerous accolades over the years.
