HORNCASTLE has been described as the centre of a 'music movement' after the new-look Old Hat guitar shop in East Street was officially opened on Friday.

More than 50 musicians joined renowned jazz guitarist Pat McCarthy for a workshop and performance to celebrate the launch.

Shop owner Norman Mitchell, who has been collecting guitars for 40 years, said: "It was a buzz to see the shop come to life, with everybody in attendance having the same love of guitars."

As well as an impressive selection of guitars, the shop has doubled in size and there is a stage with a refreshments area.

* This Friday Chris Hempsall will be leading a drum clinic at The Bull Hotel in Horncastle at 7pm. This is the third such clinic, which attracts drummers from across the County. Tickets are £5. To book call 01507 533760.
