CROWDS gathered on the banks of the River Bain in Horncastle for Saturday's big event, the annual duck race.
About 1,200 yellow plastic ducks were launched downstream of the watermill to make their way to the finishing line beyond the bridge.

Organisers from the Parent Teacher Association at Horncastle Community Primary School were delighted at the big turn-out and said later about £500 had been raised for school funds.

PTA publicity officer Katherine Bretan said they were grateful to Jay Dee Transport for bringing the ducks from Doncaster, Ray Weightman of Manor Farm, West Ashby, for storing the ducks and transporting them on the day, Sandra from All Occasions Fancy Dress for selling tickets in her duck costume and Horncastle Rivercare for the loan of waders for the parents in the river.

Winners were: £100, Kylie Leah; £50 Archie Kavanagh; £30 Kay, c/o Emily Smith; £20 Katie Parker; £10 Isobel Williams; lotto ticket, Thomas Johnson.
